If you aren’t having fun writing it, they won’t have fun reading it. Easier said than done? Check out these three quick writing prompts and amp up the fun on your writing.
Find Your Happy
It’s Evatopia’s catch phrase and I hope you Live it. Breathe it. And most importantly, Believe that you deserve it. When it comes to writing, it needs to be enjoyable or it won’t flow from you. That doesn’t mean the craft comes easily, but the journey is what keeps you coming back and doing it day after day. Here’s your writing prompt: Consider when you’ve been happiest. What happened? Now write.
Create Your Writing Zone
Where do you feel most creative? If it’s in your office at your desk, fine. But, if you regularly find that you can’t get into your creative zone, then maybe a change of scenery is in order. If Starbucks and your laptop don’t do it for you, then go back in time. Grab a pad of paper and a park bench. Bring a snack. Get back to basics and remember what brings you joy. Now write. This is one of those prompts that is sure to find a place in your current project.
Do you like your characters?
Be honest. Are these people you would like to go on vacation with? Would they be good to invite to a dinner party? If even you find your characters to be boring, stuck-up snobs, then dump them. (Unless of course, you’re writing a scene about those types.) This isn’t to say that every character should be all sunshine and light. On the contrary, they can be a thief, a cheat, a con artist. They just have to be interesting. Now imagine going to dinner with someone from one of those professions. Ready, set, write!
Do you have a great writing prompt? I’d love to hear it.
