Need a little drama in your life?
Whether you write romance or chick-lit, thrillers or horrors, you need drama. And what is drama without a healthy dose of suspense? If you’re writing a romance, that suspense may come in the form of ‘will they or won’t they’ ever get together? For a horror, it probably means will the killer attack his next victim and then be caught? In both cases, you need a bit of heart-pounding.
Drew Chial writes terrific posts on writing. His latest is titled, “What the X-Files Taught Me About Writing Scary Stories” and in it, he details how to do just that. It’s great advice that can also be adapted to the not-so-scary story.
Skip the drama in your life. Instead, add it to your writing.
